PostSubject: Leeds bids to become country’s first breastfeeding friendly city    Thu Aug 11, 2011 12:28 am

A campaign has begun for Leeds to proclaim itself the country’s first breastfeeding friendly city.

NHS bodies and Leeds City Council have teamed up for the new drive to make mums feel more comfortable about feeding their children whenever and wherever they need to.

NHS Leeds asked mums what barriers they faced and is now asking businesses to sign up and pledge to create environments where mums are welcomed and supported.

John Lawlor, chief executive at NHS Leeds, said: “Now we need the support of local businesses and community organisations. All they need to do is sign up to the scheme and receive a free resource pack including display materials.”
