An online petition urging a change in the law that would make it easier to evict travellers from illegal camps has been put together.
Coun Robert Finnigan (Independent, Morley) has set up an e-petition on the HM Government website with the aim of changing illegal encampments from a civil to a criminal offence.
This comes after travellers set up camp on Burley Village Green this month immediately after being evicted from grassland next to Radio Aire, in Kirkstall Road, leaving the council chasing an eviction notice.
