Subject: Flats plan for historic Woodhouse villa Tue Aug 09, 2011 8:43 am
A historic Victorian villa that has fallen into disrepair is to be converted into flats.
Originally known as Airedale Mount, it dates back to 1844 and was the second home to be built in Clarendon Road in Woodhouse, Leeds.
The imposing house was located to enjoy commanding views over the Aire Valley and was a symbol of the growing wealth in Leeds as the city prospered as an industrial powerhouse.
Last used as a hostel, the building has stood empty for seven years with its gardens overgrown.
