Extra police are being deployed ahead of what is expected to be the Leeds’s busiest weekend of the year.
The City Neighbourhood Policing Team will run its Street Marshals scheme, where licensed door staff patrol alongside police officers, while some of Leeds’s biggest clubs have paid for additional policing.
The move comes ahead of high profile events in the city including Leeds Festival rock music event and Leeds West Indian Carnival.

He said: “The reason Leeds city centre is such a safe place to be is because local officers and local businesses are committed to cutting crime and ensuring people’s safety.
