Leeds and Yorkshire: Community praised for keeping calm Empty
PostSubject: Leeds and Yorkshire: Community praised for keeping calm    Leeds and Yorkshire: Community praised for keeping calm EmptyThu Aug 11, 2011 11:24 pm

six people were arrested but there were no reports of major incidents in Yorkshire last night as the county continues to remain largely trouble-free.

The six were arrested overnight on suspicion of violent disorder in relation to incidents in the Deighton area of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Police said.

There were “isolated pockets of disorder” in Leeds earlier in the week, but nothing on the scale seen in other parts of the country.

The leader of Leeds City Council has expressed his sympathy to all those affected by the unrest in London and other parts of the country and reassured the public that authorities and communities are working together to prevent any future disturbances in his city.
